Photo of the Week - Roseate Spoonbill

I often travel to the beautiful state of Florida in search of birds I don't normally see in North Carolina.  One of the birds that I find there is the roseate spoonbill.  This beautiful pink bird is often mistaken for the American flamingo, but if you know anything about this species, they have a totally different look.  I have to chuckle every time I hear a mother tell their child it is a flamingo.  smiley

On this day, I was photographing them in late autumn on a overcast day.  That really allowed for the saturation of their pink coloration. I love this image because the wing position is perfect and he is close to me, making the details of his feathers pronounced.

I have quite a few images of this amazing bird and if you would like to see more, click on the following link.
