Photo of the Week - Peregrine Falcon

It could be argued that the peregrine falcon is the most popular falcon in America.  Although not a massive bird, it is the largest of falcons in North America and has been made popular in books and movies.  Perhaps the most famous of these being "My Side of the Mountain" by Jean C. George.  If you haven't read or watched the movie, I highly encourage you to do so.

On this day, I was photographing wounded raptors at our local raptor rehab center when this peregrine falcon decide to do a little vocalizing with his famous high pitched cry.  Although this bird can never fly due to an amputated wing, it doesn't stop me from loving it and loving being around such an amazing bird.  I hope you will take time to visit your local rehab center to see these beauties up close and personal.
