Photo of the Week - Leave no Raptor Behind

It may come as a  surprise to some that I don't always photograph birds in the wild.  I have a secondary passion which is photographing birds in rehabilitation centers.  This is a photo of Bob.  Bob, who is actually a female, is a barred owl that is blind, and can therefore can never be released into the wild.  She will never again fly through the night air and swoop down and rapture a mouse for her next meal.

All hope was not lost for her though.  She was taken to a local raptor rehabilitation center to spend the rest of her life in the comfort and care of those who love her.  The folks at the raptor center have a passion for taking care of animals like Bob, and I have great respect for them for taking on that responsibility.
