Happy, Happy Trees!

As you may or may not know, I have been involved with art and for about 23 years, and  that art has been photography.  But, part of my adventure in art is looking at the world with different eyes and different mediums.  People who grew up in my era, grew up watching PBS, and watching PBS meant watching Bob Ross and Bill Alexander.  Secretly, we all wanted to make "Happy Little Trees."

So, All these years later, being an established photographer, I decided to broaden my horizons by taking up oil painting using the ala prima method of painting.  Not to replace photography by any means, but to enhance my artistic muscles and hopefully strengthen my photography along with it.  So, I introduce to you my first painting with all the warts and happy little accidents to go along with it :)

I encourage you to find something like this to expand your own horizons.  Maybe it is taking those flying lessons you always wanted to take, or maybe making those happy little trees like I did.  Whatever it is, I am sure it will make you a better person and will enhance your life and the life of others at some point.

Thanks for letting me share my first little painting.  Now back to our regularly scheduled program...
